Ingredients

  • 1 large salmon filet, boneless skinless
  • 2 tbsp butter or ghee for dairy free
  • sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp liquid aminos or soy sauce
  • 1 lemon, juice of
  • pinch crushed red pepper
  • fresh chopped herbs (parsley, chives, cilantro, dill, or basil are all good options!) and lemon wedges optional garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a 9x13" pan with parchment paper. Pat the salmon dry with paper towel and place in the lined baking pan. Break up the butter into smaller pieces and scatter across the salmon. Generously season the fillet with sea salt and fresh ground pepper
  • Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl or jar and whisk or shake to combine.
  • Pour mixture over salmon. Optional: Cover and set in fridge to marinate for up to 30 minutes while you prepare the rest of your meal.
  • Bake for 15 minutes. Set oven to broil to finish the salmon for 3-5 minutes, keeping a close eye to not burn, until nicely browned on top. Do not skimp on this step, the caramelization from the broiling provides so much flavour! Scatter with fresh herbs and serve with lemon wedges if desired, and don't forget to spoon the extra pan sauce on top!
