What if there was one condiment so universally pleasing it could make random meals that feel lacking, pieced together leftovers, and otherwise bland and boring food feel exciting, appetizing, new, de-licious!!? And what if that condiment could be made using pantry staples you probably always have on hand, is gluten and dairy free, and lasts for weeks in the fridge once concocted?!
Welcome to the magic that is… chipotle aioli!!! I always have a batch of this in the fridge, because when we run out, my family members don’t stop “mentioning” it until a new batch appears. It is positively addicting 🙂
Let’s see, what do we use this on? My number one favourite is as a dip for sweet potato fries (or white potato fries for that matter). Or as the perfect finish to tacos. Also the finishing touch on a Nourish bowl! It is fantastic on a BLT with runny eggs. We use it as a dip for all of our grilled meats and veggies all summer long. Put it on your burger, put it on your tuna melts, dip cold cut veggies in it, drizzle it over a salad. Seriously, the options are endless! Chipotle aioli has a bit of a kick (from the pure chipotle chili powder), with a hint of sweetness (from a splash of Worcestershire sauce), and rich creaminess from the mayonnaise base. If you haven’t tried it yet, prepare to fall in love!
I put a poll up on Instagram this week asking which recipe you wanted to see next on the blog and you guys really surprised me by picking this simple condiment. I suppose I do rant and rave about it enough over there! Well, your wish is my command and now we have this easy, printable, searchable recipe at your fingertips. Be sure to leave me a comment below telling me how you like to use your chipotle aioli – I could always use some more inspiration!! Enjoy 🙂
Chipotle Aioli
Ingredients
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 lemon, juiced or lime
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1-2 tsp ground chipotle chili pepper (not regular chili powder, the only ingredient should be chiptole chili pepper), to taste or 1-2 chipotle chili peppers in adobo sauce, puréed
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- sea salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a jar or bowl and shake or whisk vigourosly until smooth and completely combined. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. You can also make this in a blender or bullet. Add all ingredients and pulse to combine until smooth.
- Keep stored in the fridge, will keep for at least 2 weeks. I love storing mine in a reusable squeeze bottle for easy use.

These are my honest opinions and I would never recommend anything to you I didn’t absolutely love and use on a regular basis. Hope you find these lists helpful!
Ground Chipotle Chili Pepper – This is what you want for your chipotle aioli, it is not the same as regular “chili powder” which is a mix of spices. The only ingredient should be chipotle chili peppers. These are dried, smoked jalapeños that have a distinctively sweet, smoky flavour with a moderate heat level. It’s what makes chipotle aioli so magical!
Squeeze Bottles – These are so handy to have on hand for homemade condiments, like chipotle aioli! It’s nice not to have to grab a spoon every time you want to use it – you’ll have less waste and it’ll look prettier too! This link has a set of 2 six ounce bottles, or one larger 12 ounce bottle depending on what you think you’d use more! I LOVE mine!!
Gluten Free Worcestershire Sauce – Worcestershire sauce is a staple ingredient for me for adding flavour to all sorts of soups, sauces, and meat dishes. I didn’t even realizes that the brand I was using had gluten in it, but thankfully gluten free Worcestershire sauce is readily available! Look for the ingredients to list “distilled vinegar” rather than “malt vinegar” to ensure it is gluten free, like this one from French’s.
